I have been watching Desperate Housewives since season one and aside from the season before last I have watched them all. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching the ladies of the show. There have been deaths and people who played an intricate part in the show move on but nothing bothered me as much as last nights episode.
We all know it’s the final season, which in and of itself is sad I love this show. The episode was filled with the ups and downs like every other episode of course, but the death we were all hearing about shocked me. Most series finales end with most of the main characters happily ever after and I thought for sure the couples in this show would end the same way. Not so much.
If you haven’t been following up to now you have probably missed Ben getting into trouble with the loan shark, Renee paying off his debt, the loan shark threatening her, Mike standing up to the loan shark on behalf of Renee because he was going to try to keep getting more money from her. All that led up to last nights event. Last week Mike caught the loan shark breaking into Renee’s home to send a message that he was the one in control not her. Mike beat up the loan shark and sent him on his way telling him never to come back with the loan shark replying “You should have killed me”.
The episode last night makes you think Karen is going to be the one to die this season with the reappearance of her cancer and her trying to commit suicide. Fortunately Karen lives and promises to try. The episode wraps up with Mike and Susan sharing a sweet moment on the porch and him making sure she knows how much he loves her. She heads in to start dinner and turns to say “Oh one more thing” at the same time a black car pulls up and the loan shark yells “Delfino”. Mike turns around as a gun points out, he pushes Susan out of the way and is shot in the chest and dies.
THEY KILLED OFF MIKE! Yes, it made me cry and I am sure next week will be no different when they have the funeral. Why in the world did they need to kill off Mike, I mean really what was the point in that? I just knew that the series would end with all the couples happy and together (though it could be a turning point for Tom & Lynette) but obviously I was way off. I really was shocked at the character they decided to kill off.
If you watch Desperate Housewives what did you think of Mike’s death?
I don’t watch this show and I haven’t for, well, at least since Season 3. I think it’s awful. But at the same time I realize it’s a Prime Time soap opera. I think it’s good they killed off a loved character. They need to go down in history for something.

LOL I can see your point. I did lose interest for a season b/c it got very boring so this is definitely interesting and a way to go out with a bang. I am just so sad it was Mike, he was one of my favorite characters

I thought the lead up to the shooting was brilliant…advertise someone is going to die and then make several look like they’re the one….I loved it. As for Mike? Not one of my favs so it wasn’t a big deal for me…now I would have loved if Lynette had let her husband’s girlfriend choke

I wish they did not kill Mike. But they episode was smart. They made it look like it could be anyone. Toms GF could have choked, Carlos could have fell off the roof, Karen has cancer, and we all knew the loanshark didnt like Mike. I thought it would be to obv if they killed Karen or Mike cuz of the loanshark. I was hoping they would have killed a less character.. rene, ben, bob, lee, someone like that. Mike will be missed and the end for susan was not shown. w/o mike we can only wonder….
